If you are finding yourself needing more defense over offense, Iron Will is a good choice. Elemental buffs are better suited for trash mobs. This boss has 30% lightning resistance and -20% ice resistance, but since you buffed both it is taking 30% less damage instead of 20% more damage. It is obvious it will take more damage from ice, so you buff ice and lightning. Once again you can stack elemental buffs, but if a boss has a resistance, it will take damage equal to that resistance while ignoring the other buffs. You might buff your weapon with Flame only to find out the boss begins taking 40% less damage than usual. Feel free to use elemental buffs here as well, but keep in mind that most bosses have certain resistances. One gives 10% damage and lasts a long time, while the other increases damage by 25% for both you and your partner, but ends when you get hit. Because weapon buffs stack, take advantage of Adrenaline and Overdrive. It does require a passive slot for Mind Up though, as you will not have enough Mind to use it without the passive. It depends on your light gift stats, which are greatly boosted by the Noble Silver veil. Bridge to Glory from Eos quickly becomes the strongest weapon buff. My top row of actives consists of weapon buffs. Popping Final Journey with Revenant’s Ambition on gives you quick roll, which is a free 20% extra damage to a boss. Swift gives 10% extra damage when you are light enough to mid roll, and 20% extra damage when you can fast roll. If using Revenant’s Ambition mentioned earlier, then replace this with Swift Destruction. I felt like I could never have enough Ichor when using my actives. There is also a passive that gives four Ichor for no HP reduction, so you have options. Lastly, I use Vow of Ichor, which gives six additional Ichor for the cost of 10% HP. A two-handed sword build can benefit from Strength/Dexterity Up as well if you don’t feel like building around actives, or cannot get a handle on the less defense provided by Noble Silver. I also move the “Up” passives around depending on what I feel like using. The one I use is Mind/Vitality Up from Eos blood code. There are plenty of these, and some of them even come with a second passive increase. You want access to Bridge to Glory, If using Queenslayer, you will only need one Mind Up passive. I personally use this so I can quick dodge on bosses (more on that later), but if you are a blocking kind of person, and aren’t going for the bad ending first, don’t worry about this. If you are doing the bad ending first, you can obtain Revenant’s Ambition, which increases your dodge by +1 (fat roll to mid roll). You can never go wrong with more health or stamina. If you aren’t that far, consider this a free slot. This is obtained from the Warrior blood code, which is late game. This increases the healing from your regenerations. I always make sure that every single build of mine has the mastery passive for whichever weapon I am using.Īfter that, you want to look out for Improved Regeneration. This comes from the Atlas blood code and gives a straight 20% damage increase when using a two-handed sword. The most important thing to always have is Two-Handed Sword Mastery. Make sure you check their trading stock first as I don’t remember who has them. Once again just give either of them 2 of the item they like most. Davis has these for 10 points (I think?) or maybe it was Yakumo. Lastly, you always want to fortify two-handed swords with Atlas Chrome. This should hold you over until you beat the game, where you gain access to the hardest hitting two-handed sword. Old world materials can be farmed in some of the depths’ invasions. You can trade old world materials in the Outer Crossroads for these items, and more variety will become available as you do the trader’s questline. I have a spreadsheet in my guide, but I do know he really likes the two alcohol items so that is easy to remember. You can get this by trading 10 items Yakumo likes, for 5 points each. I found it too slow but some players like being a pure tank. It has the best defense for guarding if I remember correctly. Zweihander can be picked up early on and is one of the stronger weapons.
